Duties:
Define the long-term vision and strategy for the web and app frameworks and platform group that will serve as the bedrock for all customer-facing digital experiences.
Work with the top leadership and translate their vision effectively to the engineering teams and drive the engineering team towards this translated vision.
Work with engineers and other cross organization stakeholders to design and architect the platforms that will solve engineering problems unique to Walmart.
Help drive innovation and help the organization keep up with the evolving technologies, so that Walmart can better serve its customers.
Raise the bar to make Walmart's engineering a best in class one by driving best practices and uncovering high-performance solutions that are secure, modern, and scalable.
Constantly identify opportunities to improve engineering excellence and deliver efficiencies by building reusable software.
Supervise eleven (11) employees (4 Director(s), Software Engineering, 1 Senior Manager, Software Engineering, 1 Distinguished Software Engineer, 1 Distinguished Product Manager, 1 Distinguished Technical Program Manager, 1 Distinguished Technical Architect, 1 Principal Product Manager, and 1 Principal Technical Program Manager).
Minimum education and experience required:
Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Engineering (any), or related field and 7 years of experience in software engineering or related area; OR Master's degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Engineering (any), or related field and 5 years of experience in software engineering or related area.
Skills required:
Experience architecting and building large scale web/mobile applications and scalable web services.
Demonstrated knowledge of CI/CD systems, cloud-native software development, application performance, and monitoring routines.
Experience creating technical communications, including technical diagrams, specs, and presentations, to address leadership and engineering stakeholders.
Experience with capacity planning, distributed computing, caching strategies, and building resilience in software.
Experience managing and building high-performance engineering teams.
Experience managing a multi-faceted engineering portfolio, building roadmaps, and influencing across multiple organizations.
Experience programming large codebases, caches, and databases in a globally distributed environment.
Experience driving the technical discussion among various teams and groups to conclusion.
Demonstrated knowledge of resiliency practices and data architectures.
Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.
Salary Range:
The annual salary range for this full-time position is $182,000/year to $360,000/year.
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.
Additional compensation for certain positions may also include:
Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location) and Stock equity incentives
