10 an hour SUMMARY Works with the Recreation Services Manager to successfully maintain, plan, and implement professional recreation services and programs in accordance with the mission and stated goals of the department.
This supervisory role requires strong leadership qualities, good communication skills, excellent customer service skills, and strong organizational skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Reporting relationships, work assignments, and work schedules may be subject to change in order to meet City needs or operational requirements.
Attendance at work and the ability to get along with the public, supervisors, and co-workers are essential elements of this position.

When Assigned Duties in the Community Center Provide program and event management, customer service, and general facility supervision for the Bentonville Community Center.
Assists in ensuring the Bentonville Community Center and surrounding grounds remains a safe, clean environment for the public to utilize for recreational activities.
Develops and introduces new recreation programs activities, equipment, and materials to recreation management.
Adapts city-sponsored recreation programs to meet needs of citizens, groups, teams, and individuals.
Acquires sponsorships, donations and/or other in-kind services as needed for the organization and implementation of recreation programs.
Interprets recreation programs to the public, sponsors, and participates in community meetings and organizational planning.
Prepares and presents reports that detail information such as financial data, facility attendance records and recreation program evaluations.
Studies and analyzes community recreational needs and resources.
Works with administrative or other professional personnel such as those engaged in medicine, social work, nursing, psychology, and therapy, to ensure that recreation is well balanced, coordinated, and integrated with special services.
Conducts market research and develops short and long-range community recreational goals and objectives.
Responsible for scheduling the use of the Bentonville Community Center.
Responsible for overseeing the Kids Center, Front Desk, and the Wellness Desk at the Bentonville Community Center.
Recommends the purchase of recreation equipment and services from outside vendors.
Establishes and maintains contact with recreation service and equipment vendors.
Fosters the cooperation and teamwork of city recreation and non-recreation personnel.
Develops and maintains relations with other recreation providers in community.
Recruit, interview, hire, train, and evaluate 1 full-time employees, approximately 25-30 part-time/Seasonal employees, and 100
contractors.

Studies local conditions and develops immediate, and long range plans to meet recreational needs of all age groups.
Participates in the development of the recreation budget, and directs and monitors the expenditure of department funds and keeping of department records.
Responsible for managing and operating the department's point of sale system.
Performs a wide variety of other duties as assigned.

Coordinates, promotes, and assists in development of city- sponsored recreation programs to the public, including outdoor recreational programs.

Recruit, interview, hire, train, and evaluate recreation workers.
Tracks participation and daily use of community center and programs.
Assists in the creation of detailed reports such as facility attendance records and program evaluations.
Recommend the purchase of recreation equipment and services from outside vendors Sets up chairs, tables, and sporting or exercise equipment in designated rooms or other areas for scheduled group recreation activities or sports events.
Notifies patrons of activity schedules and registration requirements.
Monitors spectators and participants at sports events to compliance with City Parks & Recreation rules.
Receives, stores, and issues sports equipment and supplies.
Makes reservations for use of facilities by individuals or groups.
Sells, rents, or provides sporting equipment.
Patrols facilities to detect damage and reports damages to appropriate authority.
Performs a wide variety of other duties as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position directly supervises Full time Recreation Specialists and approximately (40) Part-time Rec Workers, (30) Seasonal Lifeguards and (50) contractors.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree (B.
A.
) in Park and Recreation Administration or closely related field and four (4) years related experience and/or training in Parks and Recreation management, including supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics and the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Must also have the ability to perform basic budget management.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Community Center Must have and maintain a valid driver's license, the ability to become a certified First Responder by the American Red Cross and must pass a background security check.
Outdoor Recreation Must have and maintain a valid driver's license, the ability to become a certified First Responder by the American Red Cross and must pass a background security check.
