The Assistant Category Advisor provides perspective and recommendations for inclusion in customer and category strategies and tactics by analyzing and evaluating factors that affect the core priorities in order to achieve sales objectives. Provides analytical insight into the decision making processes, adding perspective and value to business planning. 1. Populates, gathers, organizes and distributes reports in an accurate and timely manner. 2. Understands data resources and know how to utilize respective resources to improve efficiency and performance. 3. Provides timely and accurate data analysis for Bayer Category Excellence activities. 4. Analyzes data and provide input and recommendations in the development and implementation of category excellence market place opportunities. 5. Assists in development of Category Review business-planning sessions that analyze key market realities to develop category and brand recommendations across the four sales controllables. 6. Owns and maintains standard category excellence reporting, POS library and presentation library. Value Added: Facilitates analytical learning environment with the business team. - Identifies business building opportunities from consumer insights that relate to the 4 sales controllables. - Identifies and develop business building sales tools and solutions. - Accesses/understands the necessary depth and breadth of information needed for analysis. Major Decisions: Develop recommendations to influence decisions through synthesizing and dissemination of all customer, category and consumer learnings. Influences customers and service providers by posturing as an expert resource/consultant and participating in customer calls. Identifies issues and opportunities and perspective care to CDM and BDM for resources to improve or maximize sales Work Relations CATEGORY EXCELLENCE
Proactively provides actionable analyses and recommendations for utilization in generating sales. TEAM LEADERS
Assists in customer specific planning of the 4 sales controllables. CUSTOMER MARKETING
Shares market place insights to assist customer marketing issues and strategy and tactic development
Knowledge equivalent to BS and BA degree required.
Six to eight years of overall CPG experience of which two to four years of experience must be in sales and marketing roles, with one to two years specifically in category management/analytical activities.
Direct or Indirect retailer experience is preferred.
This experience must have produced competency in communication, specifically written, strong functional/technical skills, and the ability to manage a multi-project based workload. Must drive for results, is customer focused, has demonstrated planning skills, and is able to work effectively in a team environment.
Provides analytical perspective based on analysis of syndicated data and/or customer specification data, current issues, and expertise within category that influences decisions and contributes to attainment of sales objectives, strategies and tactics. Experience desired in the application of marketing research information (IRI, Nielsen, and Custom) as related to 4 sales controllables.
