Senior Manager, Property Tax

Position Description
Manages Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance process by reviewing existing SOX documentation and controls; meeting with Internal Audit and external auditors to discuss Property Tax compliance processes; and ensuring process control implementation and operation.
Oversees real estate tax operations for assigned areas by collaborating with division Management, internal departments (for example, Legal, Realty, Finance), outside counsel, and appraisal and tax consultants on property issues, negotiations, and Company projects; and preparing and presenting expert testimony to local officials, formal boards of equalization, and at tax court hearings.
Ensures compliance with property tax laws and regulations by researching and collecting assessment data; maintaining assessment database; running periodic checks to ensure accuracy of Company property holdings; ensuring assessment records are complete and representative of final values; negotiating with assessors; and participating in formal proceedings before boards of equalization and appeals courts.
Leads efforts to improve the Company's property tax position by networking with industry colleagues and related departments to identify best practices; representing the Company at state, local, and professional conferences; participating in industry and legislative focus groups; making recommendations to and collaborating with Management to incorporate best practices; and devising new processes to enhance tax savings.
Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects for Property Tax by identifying Customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance accordingly; developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning.
Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by selecting and training; mentoring; assigning duties; building a team-based work environment; establishing performance expectations and conducting regular performance evaluations; providing recognition and rewards; coaching for success and improvement; and ensuring diversity awareness.
Promotes and supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by training and providing direction to others in their use and application; ensuring compliance with them; and utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy.
Ensures business needs are being met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives; consulting with business partners, managers, co-workers, or other key stakeholders; soliciting, evaluating, and applying suggestions for improving efficiency and cost effectiveness; and participating in and supporting community outreach events.
Minimum Qualifications
6 years experience in property tax or related field.
3 years of supervisory experience OR 3 years experience leading cross-functional projects
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Associate's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Real Estate, Business, Mathematics, or related field and 4 years experience in property tax or related field.
Law degree.
Certified Member of the Institute (CMI), Certified Professional Accountant (CPA), Certified Appraiser Evaluator (CAE) or similar certification.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
